Getting By With A Little Help From Our Friends !

Think Biblically
Act Faithfully

In these times of exceptional national chaos, and with less than three weeks before the Nov 3rd election, it can be challenging to discern truth amidst all of the noise. More than ever, God's people need a Biblically-grounded theology for political engagement in an ever-changing cultural landscape.

Many of you ask me for good resources to help inform that theology. May I suggest two current books that I am reading right now?
Let me know what you think, and share with me your go-to resources!

Support the Courageous

In spite of intense cultural pressure to deny or trivialize truths we hold dear regarding the nature of God and His best designs for human flourishing, these candidates for NH's Executive Council, Senate, and House of Representatives have earned an endorsement from Cornerstone. Click on the link or the graphic above to find the endorsed candidates nearest you!

Many of these candidates--especially the new ones--have asked me, where is the Church right now? Do God's people not realize that elections really do have consequences? Indeed, a recent article in The Federalist, "Pay Attention to Local Elections. Whoever Wins Can Make You Miserable," underscores this point.

Besides voting for them, you can also support these courageous candidates by:
  1. Reaching out to get to know them
  2. Encouraging or offering to pray for them
  3. Asking how you can best help: they may invite you to consider hosting a small house party, contributing financially, displaying a lawn sign, or sharing with two or three friends about your support

Please see these other elections-related articles from Shannon McGinley on the Cornerstone Blog:

Recently Cornerstone's Church Ambassador Network hosted a socially-distanced lunch for pastors and ministry leaders, sharing the story of our mission, vision, and values for gospel-centered interaction with state officials.

My counterpart, Jeff Evans and his wife Chrissy from the Minnesota Family Council related some of their own wins related to engaging MN legislators of all political and faith stripes with the message of the gospel.

We were delighted to confer upon Rep. Mark Pearson the William Wilberforce Award for his wise but tireless pursuit of religious liberty in the midst of the state's emergency orders; and upon Michael & Diane Worsely the inaugural Church Ambassador Network Award for their fostering of an intimate relationship with Gov. Sununu and his family, focusing on their spiritual health.

Most of the growing Cornerstone team was on hand to connect with pastors & leaders in attendance:
  • Clare Forrester, Director of Stewardship and Engagement
  • Helena Davis, Policy & Research Consultant
  • Shannon McGinley, Executive Director
  • Ellen Kolb, Policy and Communications Consultant
  • Ian Huyett, General Counsel & Director of Policy
Not pictured:
  • Suzanne Murdoch, Communications Consultant
  • Vickie Lavery, Financial Assistant
